I travel with my microphone and recording gear wherever I go.
I often wonder why people will bring back visual images of their trips, but not the sounds.
I enjoy the photos that I take when I’m on vacation, but the REAL experience comes back to me in much more vivid detail when I put on my headphones and listen to the place I’ve been. Streetscapes, conversations with people I’ve met … it all comes back.
A lot of the time I turn the sounds into radio journalism. Other times I turn them into poems.
All I know is, I understand the world mostly through my ears. This website is about recreating those experiences, and inspiring other people to capture some of those sounds too.
